Gerd Lippold

State Secretary for Energy and Climate Protection, Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture

Dr. Gerd Lippold was born in Leipzig in 1961. After his A-level graduation and military service, he studied physics in Leipzig. After his doctorate in the field of semiconductor physics, he worked as a project leader in research and technology development between 1992 and 2000.

He then held several management positions in the industrial sector to start up technology businesses as a founder and managing director. In this quality, he also launched and coordinated broad research and industrial networks.

During the 6th and 7th legislative periods, Dr. Gerd Lippold was a member of the Saxon parliament in the Alliance 90 / The Greens group where he was the speaker for energy and climate policy, and for economy, technology and tourism. In January 2020, he resigned from his parliament seat.

He has been the State Secretary for Energy and Climate Protection since December 2019.
