Jan Dusík

Deputy Minister in charge of Climate Protection Directorate
Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic

JUDr. Jan Dusík, M. Sc. was born in 1975. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Charles University followed by a M. Sc. degree at the Oxford University in Environmental Change and Management. His professional career began at the Czech Ministry of the Environment where he held several important positions over the years 1998 and 2010. From 2003 – 2004, he worked in the legal unit of the Directorate General for the Environment of the European Commission. Between 2006 – 2009 he was the Deputy Minister of the Environment and in the period from November 2009 – March 2010 he became the Minister of the Environment. As such, his main specialisation was foreign relations and legislative-legal matters and in 2009 he also led the agenda of the first Czech EU presidency. In the years 2011 – 2019, he worked at the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in Geneva, first as the director of the European office, and later as the chief advisor for Arctic and Antarctic strategic affairs. Between 2020 and 2022, he worked in the Arctic Program of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), most recently as its interim director. Since June 1, 2022, he has been acting as the Deputy Head of the Climate Protection Section at the Ministry of the Environment. Jan Dusík has 3 children and in his free time enjoys hiking, cycling and playing the guitar.
