Bohuslav Sobotka
Bohuslav Sobotka became Prime Minister of the Czech Republic after the parliamentary election in autumn 2013. He has been a member of the ČSSD (Czech Social Democratic Party) since December 1989 and participated in renewal of the activity of the ČSSD in Brno and in the Vyškov district. He co-founded the Young Social Democrats in 1990. In 1996, he was elected for the first time to the Chamber of Deputies as the ČSSD candidate for the South Bohemian Region. He was repeatedly elected Member of Parliament for the ČSSD in this region in 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. From 1998 until 2010, he worked as a member of the town council in Slavkov u Brna. He was repeatedly elected to the office of Chairman of the ČSSD Parliamentary Group. From 2002 to 2006, he worked as Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister, was Chairman of the Budget Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and Statutory Vice Chairman of the ČSSD. He has headed the Mandate and Immunity Committee of the Chamber of Deputies since December 2011. He has been Chairman of the ČSSD since March 2011.
