François Chimits

Analyst, Mercator Institute for China Studies

François Chimits‘ research focuses on the economic development of China, paying special attention to foreign trade and the related level playing field challenges for its trading partners. His other topic of interest are the EU-China relations, and more broadly the related discussion on economic security. Before joining MERICS, he worked as a macroeconomist at the French Embassy in Beijing. After that, he was deputy head of the trade policy department at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance. He is also in charge of a course on Chinese economy at Sciences Po Paris. François received a Master’s degree in International Economic Diagnosis and Development from Paris Dauphine University.
