Doc. Hnát graduated from FMV VŠE in Prague, International Business programme. He completed his dissertation in the European Studies programme at the Department of World Economy. He is and has been a researcher in several projects of the Czech Technology Agency, currently, for example, the project Regional Dimension of Presidency Communication and Cooperation with Schools. He is an assessor for the field of economics at the National Accreditation Office and has been a visiting professor at Miami University in the USA and Vienna University of Economics and Business in Austria.

He has authored and co-authored 5 book monographs, 7 articles in Web of Science and SCOPUS databases and numerous papers in national and international monographs, journals and conference proceedings. Doc. Hnát regularly participates in expert appearances in the media, e.g. on ČT24 in expert programs focused on international economics. He speaks English, German and Spanish.
