Markéta Pekarová Adamová

Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic

In April 2013, Markéta Pekarová Adamová was elected Chair of the regional TOP 09 organization in Prague 8 and joined the Prague leadership in September. She became a Deputy in October 2013 and Chair of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Human Rights in February 2014.

She was re-elected to the Prague 8 Council and Prague TOP 09 leadership in 2014 and defended her role as Chair of TOP 09 Prague 8 in 2015. She became Vice-Chair of TOP 09 in November 2015 and was re-elected to the Prague leadership in 2016.

In 2017, Adamová defended her Deputy mandate and became Vice-Chair of the Social Policy Committee. In November 2017, she was elected First Vice-Chair of TOP 09. In November 2019, she became Chair of TOP 09.

In October 2020, Adamová signed a memorandum of cooperation with ODS and KDU-ČSL, forming the SPOLU coalition. She led the SPOLU list in Prague in the 2021 parliamentary elections, where the coalition won. On November 10, 2021, she was elected Chair of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament and re-elected Chair of TOP 09 on November 20, 2021.
