Radan Šafařík has graduated in law and international relations at the Masaryk University in Brno. Since 2010 he has been working as a lawyer in the Gender Equality Department of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and became the director of the Gender Equality Department in 2017. His department for coordination of gender equality policies at the national level and for the implementation of international gender equality obligations. Radan Šafařík represents the Czech Republic in a number of international organizations and EU bodies. He is a vice-chair of the Management Board of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), a member of the Council of Europe Gender Equality Commission, and a member of the OECD Working Party on Gender Mainstreaming.
